A note posted on the fabulous Steve Hoffman’s Music Forums this week has raised my eyebrows and almost made me shout. Just kidding, of course… Seriously now, the bit of information, taken from the new On The Run tour program, points out for a complete refurbishing of the Paul McCartney.com official site. Everything, according to the text, due next Fall. Without giving away the secrets, this sort of teaser says:
Coming Fall 2011: All new PaulMcCartney.com
Well, if you’re a longtime Paul McCartney fan like me, you should be more than used to all the mystery that surrounds everything related to his projects. Recently, HP has opened a special website with videos and a bunch of photographs to publicize The Paul McCartney Cloud that likely will hold everything under the sun Paul has ever taped, written, photographed and released in digital form. No extra instructions on how this stuff is going to work or when will it be functional was explained. Actually, we don’t even know for sure whether the cloud is going to be a fan thing or simply a commercial venture for Paul’s company, MPL.
All right. If we read carefully the teaser above, we will take notice that it mentions the words “Photo collections”. This item, hopefully, can be directly linked to the HP cloud since the company has uploaded a few pictures of Paul’s on their website. But this “collection”, mind you, is nothing more than a pale sample of his over half million pictures, taken by Linda McCartney and other professionals since 1968.
The story continues here with the word “Membership”, that can mean a thousand things, even if you are not that creative. It’s a hint, of course, that the website is about to charge you for something.
Ok, clear now…but what’s on store for us? Alternate takes, unreleased songs and shows that weren’t included on his recent releases on the Paul McCartney Archive Collection? Or could it be a collection of unreleased videos, including rehearsals, cancelled projects and more? Yes, this section can offer us such an unlimited universe of goodies. Almost forgetting… The item “Exclusive Content” also points out to an incredible array of stuff that we will only find out later this year. Are you just as impatient as I am, by the way?
